Attendees at the fourth annual International Bigfoot Conference at Chautauqua Park Pavilion were witness to what was certainly the strangest sideshow in the event’s short history, when headliner Igor Burtsev placed what he claimed was an unplanned cellphone call to Russia to speak to Bigfoot. This of course left the audience with many unanswered questions, not the least of which was where did they get their long distance package from, and is there a  roaming discount program for cryptids? In much wilder and altogether more believable news, we hear from Sasquatch’s David Holthouse: ‘I Got As Close to the Truth As I Can Without Getting Myself Killed’. Holthouse goes deep into the Emerald Triangle of Northern California to learn more about a 1993 triple homicide purportedly carried out by a Sasquatch. He comes away with a much deeper respect for those who believe in Bigfoot, and we come away with the understanding that humans are still the most monstrous beings on the planet. (CM)
